Maharashtra TET 2026 Examination Deferred Amid Paper Leak Investigation; Fresh Schedule to Be Announced
Mumbai: The Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (MAHA TET) 2026 has been postponed following allegations of a possible question paper leak just ahead of the scheduled examination. The decision was taken by the authorities to ensure the integrity and transparency of the recruitment process after law enforcement agencies initiated an investigation into the matter.

According to officials, suspicious documents resembling examination papers were reportedly recovered during a police operation in the Thane district. Following the development, the Maharashtra State Council of Examination (MSCE) decided to defer the examination until the investigation is completed and the authenticity of the recovered material is verified.
Authorities Launch Investigation
Police have registered a case and started a detailed investigation to determine whether the seized documents were genuine examination papers or unauthorized study material. Officials are also examining whether an organized network was involved in the alleged leak.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has reportedly been constituted to identify those responsible and prevent similar incidents in future examinations.
No Need for Fresh Registration
Candidates who have already completed their registration for MAHA TET 2026 will not be required to submit a fresh application. Officials have indicated that existing applications will remain valid, and a revised examination schedule will be announced after the inquiry is completed.
New admit cards, if required, will be issued before the rescheduled examination.

Education authorities have stated that postponing the examination was necessary to protect the interests of lakhs of candidates preparing for the eligibility test. Conducting the examination under doubtful circumstances could have affected the credibility of the recruitment process.
